For more than half a century, Mayfair House has been part of Montreux’s story. Born in 1970, when the former L’Escale tea room became what historical sources describe as the first pub on the Riviera, the Mayfair grew into one of the town’s most iconic meeting places. Over the decades, its story has crossed paths with remarkable names: the Hôtel Splendid above welcomed Lenin, Charlie Chaplin, The Rolling Stones, Yes and Eddie Constantine, while the Mayfair later became a landmark of Riviera nightlife, hosting internationally renowned DJs including Tony Humphries, George Morel and Mousse T.

In August 2026, Chef Laszlo Bizeray took over the kitchen, opening a new chapter for MAYF with a 100% homemade menu: contemporary, generous cooking created to honour the history of the house while giving it a new identity.
